Water Brings Life

World Water Day 2009 is coming right up. I thought I’d use this page as a central hub for the main information you might find handy in researching or participating in WWD 2009.

World Water Day was designated as an annual observance on March 22 by the U.N. General Assembly beginning in 1993. The purpose is to raise awareness of and participation in the solutions to the world water crisis. The idea has been married to the Millenium Development Goals set by the U.N. You can read about those here.

The “Water for Life” Decade (2005-2015) aims to promote efforts to fulfill international commitments made on water and water-related issues by 2015, placing special emphasis on the involvement of women in these efforts.
